In this limited-edition Cabinet of Curiosities Workshop, you’ll create a dramatic matching pendant and earring set in sterling silver, set with deep black faceted stones and inspired by the ornate jewelry of another era.
There is an upgrade below if you’d like to include a ring in this ensemble.
The Blackstone combines Gothic romance, Victorian ornament and traditional jewelry-making techniques in a set that feels elegant, mysterious and just a little dangerous.

Your sterling silver settings will feature sculptural scrollwork surrounding each stone, with recessed details that take on a darkened finish while the raised silver is polished back to a brilliant shine. The result is that wonderful contrast of bright sterling against shadowed detail that makes the ornament come alive.
Then you’ll make it yours.
You’ll learn how to solder the bails and connections that transform the individual sterling components into a finished pendant and pair of earrings. From there, you’ll prepare each setting for its stone and learn one of jewelry making’s most satisfying skills:
Prong setting.
Each faceted black stone is placed into its setting from the front and secured by carefully working the prongs over the stone. You’ll learn how to tighten the prongs evenly, check that the stone is secure, and finish them so they become part of the design rather than simply a means of holding the stone in place.
Finally, you’ll darken and finish the sterling silver, polish the raised ornament and assemble your completed jewelry.
The finished set is unmistakably Gothic, romantic and sophisticated—ornate enough to feel as though it belongs in an antique jewelry box, but completely wearable today.
Wear the pendant and earrings together when you want to make an entrance.
Wear them separately when you only want to cause a little trouble.
Either way, when someone asks where you found them, you get to say:
“I made them.”
No previous jewelry-making experience is necessary. Beginners are always welcome, and you’ll be guided through soldering, finishing and setting your stones step by step.
