SUMMARY:The Blackstone Sterling Silver Pendant & Earrings Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this limited-edition Cabinet of Curiosities Workshop\, you’ll create a dramatic matching pendant and earring set in sterling silver\, set with deep black faceted stones and inspired by the ornate jewelry of another era. \nThere is an upgrade below if you’d like to include a ring in this ensemble. \nThe Blackstone combines Gothic romance\, Victorian ornament and traditional jewelry-making techniques in a set that feels elegant\, mysterious and just a little dangerous. \n\n \n\nYour sterling silver settings will feature sculptural scrollwork surrounding each stone\, with recessed details that take on a darkened finish while the raised silver is polished back to a brilliant shine. The result is that wonderful contrast of bright sterling against shadowed detail that makes the ornament come alive. \nThen you’ll make it yours. \nYou’ll learn how to solder the bails and connections that transform the individual sterling components into a finished pendant and pair of earrings. From there\, you’ll prepare each setting for its stone and learn one of jewelry making’s most satisfying skills: \nProng setting. \nEach faceted black stone is placed into its setting from the front and secured by carefully working the prongs over the stone. You’ll learn how to tighten the prongs evenly\, check that the stone is secure\, and finish them so they become part of the design rather than simply a means of holding the stone in place. \nFinally\, you’ll darken and finish the sterling silver\, polish the raised ornament and assemble your completed jewelry. \nThe finished set is unmistakably Gothic\, romantic and sophisticated—ornate enough to feel as though it belongs in an antique jewelry box\, but completely wearable today. \nWear the pendant and earrings together when you want to make an entrance. \nWear them separately when you only want to cause a little trouble. \nEither way\, when someone asks where you found them\, you get to say: \n“I made them.” \nNo previous jewelry-making experience is necessary. Beginners are always welcome\, and you’ll be guided through soldering\, finishing and setting your stones step by step. \n\nDuration: Approximately 3 HoursSkill Level: Beginner friendly — with real soldering and stone-setting techniquesWorkshop Fee: $135 [Ring upgrade additional $65]Materials: Sterling silver pendant and earrings\, faceted black stones and all workshop materials included \nThe Blackstone Collection is part of Brad Golden Design Studio’s limited-edition Cabinet of Curiosities series—a collection of unusual jewelry-making experiences inspired by Gothic ornament\, Victorian romance\, mysterious relics and beautiful objects that look as though they have stories to tell.

SUMMARY:SILVER SAND CASTING
DESCRIPTION:FROM ONE OF MY STUDENTS:\n \n“Brad works with each person at their level and supports them throughout the process. I appreciate his “can do” spirit and dedication to helping each person succeed to create something beautiful and valuable. The group grows closer as we learn from each other and I love that I can turn to anyone in his groups and feel we are in this together! Thank you Brad! It takes a special person to be so dedicated and passionate to teach others with love.” \n—Melodee Quiroz \nMake Your Own Cross Pendant – A Two-Hour Jewelry Casting Workshop\nExperience the excitement of pouring molten metal and create a cross pendant with the rugged\, one-of-a-kind character of traditional sand casting. \nChoose from six distinctive cross designs\, ranging from simple and primitive to Celtic and Gothic-inspired forms. You’ll press your chosen design into Delft clay\, melt your choice of solid copper or sterling silver\, and pour the molten metal into the mold yourself. \nOnce your casting has cooled\, you’ll refine\, texture\, and polish your cross\, allowing the natural imperfections and organic character of the casting process to become part of the finished piece. \nNo two castings will be exactly alike. \nEvery participant leaves with a completed cross pendant and matching bail\, ready to wear on the chain or cord of their choice. \nNo experience is necessary. Beginners are always welcome. \n\nChoose From Six Cross Designs\nSelect the design that speaks to you. Six original cross styles will be available to choose from at the workshop\, each designed specifically to take advantage of the raw\, organic character of sand casting. \n\nSelect Your Metal\nChoose the material you’d like to cast during registration. \nCopper Cross\nWarm\, rich\, and full of character\, copper develops a beautiful natural patina over time and pairs especially well with the rustic texture of sand casting. \nSterling Silver Cross\nA timeless precious metal that can be polished bright while retaining the rugged marks and subtle imperfections that make your casting uniquely yours. \n\nIncluded\n\nYour choice of six cross designs\nYour choice of copper or sterling silver\nAll tools\, materials\, and safety equipment\nDelft clay casting materials\nOne finished cross pendant\nExpert instruction\n\nNOTE: Necklace not included. \n\nDuration: Approximately 2 HoursSkill Level: Beginner friendly\, fun and rewarding!
