DESCRIPTION:A rare Central Coast creative getaway hosted by artist Brad Golden.\nExperience the full magic of lost-wax casting through a modern\, professional workflow using 3D printed jewelry originals. In this immersive three-day workshop\, you’ll learn how digitally created designs are transformed into solid metal jewelry through one of the most powerful and time-honored processes in metalsmithing—reaching back 6\,000 years. \nWorking in a small group\, you’ll prepare a cast-ready 3D printed model\, sprue and invest your piece\, and take part in a live metal pour at the instructor’s workshop. On the final day\, you’ll cut\, file\, sand\, and polish your casting into a finished piece of jewelry you can wear home. \nThis class emphasizes process\, understanding\, and hands-on experience. All designs are pre-tested and 3D printed in advance to ensure successful castings and allow you to focus on learning the complete workflow from start to finish. \nNo prior jewelry\, casting\, or 3D modeling experience is required. \n\nWhat You’ll Make\nEach student will cast one finished jewelry piece (ring or pendant) using the lost-wax casting process.You’ll also receive a second identical 3D printed master to take home for future casting. \n\nWhat You’ll Learn\n\nHow 3D printed models replace traditional hand-carved wax in modern casting\nWhat makes a design suitable for lost-wax casting\nSpruing techniques and metal flow fundamentals\nInvestment mixing and mold preparation\nBurnout and casting temperature theory\nParticipating in a live group metal pour\nCutting\, filing\, sanding\, and polishing cast jewelry\n\n\nDesign Selection & Materials\nTo ensure a smooth and successful workshop experience\, students will choose from a curated selection of instructor-approved jewelry designs. All designs are 3D printed in advance and sized to fit within the materials included in the workshop fee. \nIf you select a ring design\, you’ll be asked to provide your ring size in advance of the class. \nAll materials are provided\, including professional tools\, casting supplies\, and sterling silver appropriate for the selected design.
